Upcycling a Bamboo Tray with Blueprint Paper
Several years ago, I found this bamboo tray at the Goodwill Bins (aka, the Goodwill Outlet). Even though it wasn’t all that special, I knew it was a blank canvas that I could have fun with- someday. I just didn’t know when that day would come.Read more ›
Industrial Style Decor with a Wooden Tool Caddy
During a trip to Habitat ReStore, I found a wooden tool caddy that was as cute as could be. I thought it was SO special and perfect for a little industrial makeover. Funnily enough, though, when I turned the corner, I saw an entire row of wooden tool caddies!Read more ›
Telephone Sign on a Small Cutting Board
Long-term quarantining is, quite honestly, the best thing that has happened to my garage in a long time. It’s the only thrift store I have access to and I’m uncovering things I’d long forgotten about. And one of those things was a small cutting board. I decided it was the perfect piece to make a telephone sign.
35+ Upcycling Ideas for Industrial Decor
One of the more recent home decor trends that I never get tired of is Industrial Decor. Not only do I love the rustic, almost masculine feel to the elements (reclaimed wood, metal, worn leather), but if you think about it, industrial home decor is a product of upcycling. But upcycling on a grander scale. Read more ›
Valentine’s Day Home Decor from Heart Cake Pans
As I was going through my Valentine’s Day projects, I realized that every single one was red and/or pink. And while that’s not exactly shocking (it IS V-day, after all), I wanted to switch it up and go in an industrial decor direction using some heart cake pans I found while thrifting. My plan? To create some Valentine’s Day home decor that were a little more unique and less frilly.Read more ›
Industrial Side Table from VHS Storage
I can’t be 100% certain, as I’ve not visited EVERY thrift store across the globe. But I’m 99% certain that every thrift has VHS Storage or VHS tape drawers on their shelves. Cassette tape storage cases, too; they’re positively everywhere! So, I decided I needed to upcycle them into something COMPLETELY unexpected. My idea? An industrial side table that kinda-sorta looked like a metal card catalog.Read more ›
Hardware Organizer from a Tupperware Veggie Tray
This upcycling idea has been rattling around in my head for nearly a year now, but up until recently, I wasn’t sure how to fully execute it. You see, I have coveted a hardware organizer for a while now. You know the kind I’m talking about, right? One of those spinning organizers for small parts or nuts and bolts that you would find in a General Store? Anyway, I couldn’t pull the trigger on an authentic one (too pricey) and I didn’t want to purchase a reproduction (like this one below). Read more ›
Pocket Watch Wall Clock from a Picture Frame
This multi photo frame was unusual enough to catch my eye at the thrift store. Right off the bat, it reminded me of a vintage pocket watch with its multiple round spots for clock faces. Of course, when the cashier remarked how unique the frame was and I mentioned the pocket watch familiarity that I was feeling, she looked at me like I was crazy. But that’s ok- I’m used to that by now. All I knew was that I planned to turn it into a pocket watch wall clock (albeit a fake one) to hang on the wall!Read more ›
