Brochure Stand and Mountain Cabin Decor

Brochure Stand and Mountain Cabin Decor

This magazine rack was a thrift store find that came home with me, even though I had no plan in mind. But it was heavy and sturdy (i.e., good quality) and seemed like it was a blank canvas for a future project. It finally dawned on me that it would be PERFECT as a brochure stand in a mountain cabin that my in-laws used to own.Read more ›

Tabletop Version of a Vintage Library Card Catalog

Tabletop Version of a Vintage Library Card Catalog

On one of my typical thrifting adventures, I spied this mini chest of drawers near the cash register at the thrift shop. I didn’t really fancy the painted fruit “still life” that covered it, but I WAS curious about the wood underneath the paint. The idea of a “makeunder” floated through my mind as I envisioned a vintage library card catalog as the end result.

Upcycling a Boat Oar as a Nautical Coat Rack

Upcycling a Boat Oar as a Nautical Coat Rack

I’ve hinted at it on Facebook and here on the blog that I would start focusing on cabin-themed projects this year. My in-laws built a GORGEOUS cabin in the North Georgia mountains, which means I get to add a new facet to my blog! And I’m kicking off that trend with this boat oar or wood paddle that I recently acquired. It was the perfect size to upcycle into a nautical coat rack for the cabin. Read more ›

Upcycling a Vintage Jewelry Box as a Sewing Starter Kit

Upcycling a Vintage Jewelry Box as a Sewing Starter Kit

Now, I know what you’re thinking: Sadie already created a sewing caddy once before. And you’re right, I did. I still use it all the time, and the pins are safely tucked away from my cat, Cottonball. BUT, when I found this vintage jewelry box with a tapestry cushion lid at the thrift store, I knew right away it would could easily be upcycled into a sewing starter kit or sewing box.Read more ›

Belt Organizer from a Vintage Wooden Hanger

Belt Organizer from a Vintage Wooden Hanger

Alright, I have to confess- this project is SOOOO simple that it probably doesn’t warrant a full blog post. But I put one together anyway- I hope you don’t mind! Who knows, maybe it’ll come in handy for you anyway. I decided that I wanted to make a belt organizer or belt hanger. And to do so, I would upcycle a vintage wooden hanger!Read more ›

DIY Hat Stand from Wooden Candlesticks and Bowls

DIY Hat Stand from Wooden Candlesticks and Bowls

I’ve confessed my love of accessories to you before, particularly with scarves and vintage costume jewelry. But I am ALSO a lover of hats…especially during the humid southern summers! So, while I’ve made plenty of accessory organizers over the years (as well as other kinds of organizers), I was clearly overdue to make a DIY hat stand for my collection of Trilby hats.Read more ›

DIY Ribbon Holder from a Countertop Wine Rack

DIY Ribbon Holder from a Countertop Wine Rack

I think we can all agree that my mind works in mysterious ways- sometimes it’s a great thing (when a project works out!) and sometimes it’s bothersome (when a project fails). But once again, there I was in a thrift store, looking at everything through Sadie-colored glasses. And one of the things I spotted was this countertop wine rack that was unexciting but full of potential. As I studied the small wine rack, my mind started to see it as a DIY ribbon holder. Silver Candelabra as a Jewelry Tree Stand

Silver Candelabra as a Jewelry Tree Stand

I’ve upcycled a LOT of thrift store finds into jewelry storage and organization projects over the years. Probably because I have such an affinity for vintage costume jewelry. Give me flashy rhinestones over diamonds any day of the week! And while most of my jewelry organizers have been “quirky”, none of them would be considered “elegant”. That is, until I found a silver candelabra at the thrift store and decided to repurpose it into a jewelry tree stand.

Ribbon Organizer from a Wooden Candelabra

Ribbon Organizer from a Wooden Candelabra

How many times have I found something interesting at a thrift store…brought it home…repurposed it for my blog…and then realized I didn’t know what to call it? I’ll answer that for you- LOTS AND LOTS OF TIMES. And so we have this thrift store find: a wooden candle stand or perhaps a wooden candelabra. Regardless of proper name, though, I knew right away I wanted it to become a ribbon organizer.Read more ›

Boho Storage for Jewelry from a Silverware Tray

I know everyone always talks about “Spring Cleaning”, but let me tell you- January, for me, is all about the purge! Organizing goes hand in hand with decluttering, so I decided to upcycle a recent Goodwill find into some Boho storage for jewelry. Read more ›
